Why it works: Chapter 13, Why stretching your hamstrings will not loosen them
How to do it
- 1
Two positions
Clean one bell to the rack on your right. Pick up the other in your left hand and let it hang at your side.
- 2
Stand tall and level
Shoulders level, ribs down, no lean toward either bell.
- 3
Breathe behind the brace
Tighten your trunk and keep breathing in small steady breaths.
- 4
Walk deliberately
Normal steps, eyes ahead, slow enough that neither bell swings.
- 5
Switch
Set them down, swap sides and walk again.
- 6
The test
When your shoulders tip or you lean, the walk is done.
Watch for
- Leaning toward or away from the hanging bell.
- The racked elbow drifting out.
- Holding your breath.
Questions
What is an offset carry?
A carry with two bells in different positions, one racked and one hanging. The uneven load tries to tip you and twist you, and your trunk refuses both.
Is an offset carry harder than a suitcase carry?
Yes. There is more load, and it is uneven two ways: one side is heavier at the shoulder, the other pulls down at your hip. Move to it when a suitcase carry feels steady for a long walk on both sides.
